Do you know a non-profit organization that is out in the world doing something good, but can’t necessarily afford professional graphic design services? If so, Orange Bike Design may be able to help.

July 2008 marks the official launch of our “Giving Something Back” campaign. In our continued effort to “Do Good Design,” we are extending our graphic design services free of charge to one worthy cause. We are asking clients and friends to take a moment to help us find a non-profit organization that would benefit from either an identity redesign, development of promotional materials, or even design and programming of a website. If you know of such an organization in need we ask you to please direct them to our Giving Something Back application located here: www.orangebikedesign.com/dogood

It is our hope that 2008 will mark the first year of what will become an annual “giving back” tradition.  Thank you in advance to those who forward this information on to a deserving organization, (you are doing your part).

Summer reminds us...

With the seasonal rise
of summer temperatures, we can't help but be reminded of the plight of global warming and its effects on the natural world.

With rising temperatures, polar bear populations have experienced shocking terrain and life losses. Scientific evidence predicts that all of the summer sea ice could vanish by 2040.

The NRDC needs your help in urging officials to give polar bears the full-fledged endangered species status they will need to survive.

Orange Bike Design has donated to the cause, we urge you to consider it too.

A Greener Fourth
• Add local organic foods to your fourth of july picnic menu
• Use recycled plastic plates and cutlery
• Create a clearly marked area for your guests to dispose of recyclable cans and bottles
• Use sustainably-produced charcoal
• Consider having your event later in the day when temperatures are cooler and air conditioning is less necessary

Red, White, Blue and GREEN
An eco-friendly 4th of July

The forth of July is a time for fun, family, friends and festivities. Lighting up the sky and our hearts, fireworks are undoubtedly one of the most exciting components of July 4th. But have you ever stopped to consider the environmental impact of these sparkling stunners?

Fireworks leave behind potentially unsafe particulates and heavy metals such as barium and copper. Perchlorate, a main ingredient in firework combustion has been found to have harmful human effects. The good news is that chemists are now focusing their energies on creating a more environmentally friendly firework. They are developing new cleaner burning nitrogen-rich materials that will produce less smoke. For more information on the environmental changes being made, read the C&EN article here: http://pubs.acs.org/cen/coverstory/86/8626cover.html
