October 4th marks the beginning of voter registration deadline, in some states deadlines are extended until the end of the month. Because this is an exciting and important election year, we want to make sure all of our votes count. We have received some emails warning against wearing political attire at the poles. So we did some research and here is what we found: Laws against campaigning in and around polling places are almost universal, though each state has its own specific regulations. The majority of states use language prohibiting voters and poll workers from "distributing," "circulating," or "posting" campaign materials within 200 feet of polling places. Although this is often restricted to signs, pamphlets and the like, it can sometimes be interpreted to include buttons, t-shirts, hats, or other political garb. Don't get turned away from your polling place on November 4th, avoid wearing items that state your support to a candidate or party.   Can you believe it is October already?
