Small Size, Big Ideas
At Orange Bike Design we were recently reminded of the initiative of our young generation, when a six year old niece presented us with her strategically branded vision for a more sustainable future. She created close to ten separate poster designs to promote her campaign "Stop Global Warming". Needless to say we were impressed with her environmental awareness, but we were also amazed at the amount of thought and time she put into branding her cause.
This got us thinking about just how far reaching the idea of eco-concious branding has become. At a recent design event, Duke Stump, of the Northstar Manifesto gave an insightful presentation about the future of green and how it will affect the design industry through branding. One point he made was that even in a down economy, purpose-based brands seem to be thriving. He suggests that a lot of this has to do with a younger generation that is not focused on upward mobility, they are focused on redefining success through personal fulfillment.
According to this idea, brands need to be purpose-driven and need to connect to the consumer's heart rather than their head. Well Duke...here is some concrete evidence to support your theory.
